Three Years. That’s a long freakin’ time. That’s how long it’s been since I started this blog! Every year, as my bloggerversary rolls around, I think of talking about how I started this blog right after I went through a terrible period in my life. It was the darkest time of my life so far. I was at my lowest. But, my family and friends, and someone up there who’s clearly watching out for me, saved me. I think of sharing this part of my life with you all, but I don’t know if I’m ready yet. Maybe I’ve even blurred a lot of it out of my mind. Maybe I try to pretend it was just a really awful nightmare. I know it wasn’t, but maybe I’d rather pretend it was. Someday, I know I will be ready to share it with you guys. But, for now, all I will say is that this blog has done a lot for me. I won’t go as far as saying this blog saved me, because I was saved by the people in my life. But this blog has brought me a lot of happiness. There’s just something about chasing your passion. There’s not happiness greater, than the happiness that comes from doing what you enjoy. The past few years have been some of the most difficult years for me, and I’ve shared some things with you guys. I talked to you about my dad’s heart attack, and my struggles finding a job, and more. And you were always there with words of kindness and encouragement. You may not have known the amount of difference those words made to me. Everyone has their struggles, and I am blessed that I get to share mine with you guys, and I am humbled by the love you have given me and my blog. You guys are all incredible! There have been so many times that I wanted to just kill my blog, and be done with it. But, in all honesty, blogging makes me SO happy! I have also had the opportunity to meet some amazing women, and work with some incredible people and brands, due to this blog. So, I would be crazy to kill it. Also, there have been people who have made me realize how much I love this blogging thing, and talked me into continuing to do this. For those people, I am forever thankful. For all of you who visit my blog, and take the time to comment on my posts, I am so incredibly grateful! Typically, I do a giveaway for my blog anniversary, but this time around, things have been so crazy with my new job and all, that I completely forgot about my anniversary until last week!
When I finally realized last week, that my THREE YEAR bloggerversary was coming up, I definitely wanted to do a fun shoot for it! And what’s more fun than Stilettos & Sequins (and a dash of glitter)? This was one of the most fun shoots I’ve ever done! I’ve had this French Connection blue sequin dress for a while, and I actually wore it to my birthday brunch earlier this year. It was actually an impulse purchase a couple days before my birthday brunch. I was out shopping/browsing when I saw this gorgeous, blue sequin dress. I tried it on just because, but it was SO perfect, and at such an enticing price, that I had to get it. I know it seems like something I wouldn’t wear a lot. I mean, how often would I wear a blue sequin dress? Surprisingly, I feel like I could really get some good wear out of it!
In the three years that I’ve been doing this, I think what humbles me the most is that I have never …. EVER received a negative comment. That is a big deal. It shouldn’t be, but it is. So, I am grateful that you’ve all made this such a positive place! Thank you for your endless support and love. There are a lot of exciting things happening, and I can’t wait to share em with you guys! For starters, THIS happened yesterday! So, I’m feeling extra extra thankful, and excited! Be sure to follow along on Instagram, for all the fun!
So, to say thank you all for being so freakin’ awesome, I wanna sprinkle glitter all over your lives!
And since I’m feeling so philosophical today, I’m gonna leave you with two things I’ve personally learned in the last two years – 1. Never …. EVER give up on what makes you happy, and 2. If things are shitty now, remember they won’t be that way forever. And if things are great now, learn to appreciate that.
